Ethan Peck, Lead Graduate Teacher, 2011–12, ATOC
Learning goals are a valuable communication tool for use between instructors and their TAs and between teaching staff and students, so that everybody knows what the outcomes of the course are meant to be. Once learning goals are written, it is much easier to write activities or questions to help students achieve them. Because writing clear learning goals takes some practice, Ethan will help participants draft a few during the workshop. Ethan will also discuss how setting learning goals allows teachers to more effectively assess student learning.
